THE INSTALLATION

Heating Under Hardwood Floors
Kitchen floor with heated floor system being installed.

FloorHeat is a thin, yet very durable self-regulating heating element. The low-voltage system is used to provide radiant floor heat for all types floor surfaces, and comes in rolls 9 and 12-inches wide.

The heat element can be cut to the desired length and field-wired on site.

Heat cable is installed under concrete floors and mud-beds. Warmzone offers a variety of heat cable that can also be used outside for melting snow and ice.

ClearZone is the premier snow melting cable on the market today.

Installation of Radiant Heat System Components

The Power Unit - The Transformer is a low-voltage dry type isolation transformer (120 Vac primary and 24 Vac secondary, NEMA 3R enclosure). The Terminal Board is a fused board - 24 Vac with four 5A PTC fuses, set screw lug terminals sized for #14 #4 AWG wires, terminal assignments (one primary hot, four fused secondary hot, and three neutrals). FloorHeat is the safest electric system on the market. The system is ETL listed and complies to ANSI/UL-1693 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 no. 217 standards and CE marking. FloorHeat operates on low-voltage and does not require a ground fault interrupter. It is normally connected to a 24V transformer, but it can also be run by a solar or wind-powered source. Because the elements are self-regulating and cover over 60% of the floor surface, this floor heating system is more efficient (up to 30%) than other electric and hydronic systems, and up to 60% more efficient than conventional forced air systems. The system is easily zoned too!

FloorHeat is an excellent product for heating your entire home or for simply heating your floors. The floor heating element is a durable, yet thin 12"-wide element. It is flexible and can be cut to length on the job site. Once layout has been determined, simply cut the element to the appropriate length, make the electrical connections, and run the wires to the terminal board(s) and transformer. Secure the elements to the subfloor with adhesive, staples, or pegs and cover to trade practices. No floor heating system is easier to install.

FloorHeat is approved for use with any non-conductive floor covering including: natural stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, hardwood and laminates, resilient, and carpet. And because the element can be placed directly below the floor covering, installation is a breeze! Warmzone FloorHeat is perfect for new construction or remodeling applications. Because of its low profile, there is practically no buildup when using FloorHeat for heating your floors.

The installation of our radiant heat systems is fairly easy compared to other radiant heat systems. Contractors and experienced "do-it-yourselfers" can install the system with ease. Warmzone does recommend, however, involving an electrician when working with high-voltage wires and when hooking up the power to the radiant heating system.

Warmzone provides complete, professional radiant heat services, including AutoCad layouts with each system. Layouts are crucial to ensure the proper installation of the radiant floor heating system.
